I cannot download anything VISTA Closed

Question

Hello,
    So the other day i downloaded uttorent and i kept pressing ok and yes. After i reinstalled it i look at my desktop and seeing it was a white sheet of paper on my applications. I reinstalled all the applications that had that white sheet of paper as its icon because when i double clicked it said open with..... So i go on morzillla fire fox and i download something and it is a white sheet of paper as well. It then says application not found. I go to controll panel open with internet explorer and it says open with... i scan with mcafee and it says nothing was detected. I do not  want to reboot my computer. So i renember i did this before like 2 years ago but that was when i had windows and now i have vista. I fixed it before but i cant fix it now. Please help.

You wouldn't want to lower yourself and tell us what that means, and how, step by step, to change the "prots" - or were you just stroking your ego with that answer.
