                    I've tried that also... But it still won't work, I'd even tried replacing all the other parts of my old computer into a new one's, it doesn't work either... I've also tried to insert the parts w/c I pulled out from the old compter to another unit, & it works fine. But when I've tried to insert the CPU in to the other board, it won't work.                     CPU's are very sensitive to static electricity.  You need to use a ground strap when removing/installing them.
You could have zaped the CPU at some time and it failed.
