can't open ant downloads Closed

Hello,
after downloading any update i cannot open them.tried to do this in internet explorer n mozilla  and it won't work. ran virus scan(avast) and ran registry fix and found nothing .i know when i used to download something in the download box the word open i could click on now i can't

updates for wat? windows vista? and can you open normal downloaded programs such as if you were to download AIM for intance would you be able to get the dialog box?

ok, i would like to kno if this sounds like your problem or not. if not please tell me the exact process you go through when downloading a file.

sounds the same to me ---already disabled uac and uninstalled avg still nothing
