Want to install win xp in compaq presarioCQ40

Hello,
I am seriously in big trouble because window vista version is not supporting turbo c, and also microsoft visual c++. As i am is the student of computer engg..(2nd year) i have to do programming but i am not able to perform my work in time . I want to install win xp on my laptop . Hope you give me solution of my problem as early as possible .
