Hello,
here's the story so far! For reasons i wont go into i was running a full recovery with home made recovery disks on pc running (XP me) something i had done before (successfully) disk 1 loaded fine was asked to load next disk but then whole machine failed totally and is dead:-( my question is i now have new pc running running vista i've plugged old HD into it but of course since recovery was not completed no files are showing can i dissconnect main HD from new pc and try running recovery again on old one will it just go back to blue screen or bios and is there any risc of messing up new system by doing this?

Hi there,

If you plug the old hard disk on new system, you need to disable sata/native mode in bios setting then process with installation of windows on the hard drive. Is this what you intend to do?please give more information.

Thanks

yes thats my plan. would u suggest disconnecting main Hdrive first to avoid any conflicts or risk to it and try to just proceed with recovery i really just want to collect as many old files from it as i can before i format it and use it as extra storage.
