Hp computer

Hello,
i have a hp laptop computer when tou turen it on the screen is black you can see the lights lite up but when you try to turn it off and back on typing like f8 ect... it 3 beeps you can hear but nothing happen screen is still black will not power on to the desktop or nothing can any one tell what it could be wrong with it thanks.
