Hello,
I will soon buy a graphics card xfx 9600gt 740m xxx alpha dog edition which is pci express 2.0 but the only problem is that my actual card is a nvidia 6600gt which is I think is a normal pci express card and I was thinking if it's possible to be done.

Yes it can be done but you might need to flash your motherboard first
