Dell laptop making noise and shuts down Closed

Question

Hello,
   My Dell Inspiron Laptop 1420 is making a sound (as if there is a fan problem) the the laptop abruptly shuts down. Now it is not even starting. Is that only because of fan or some severe hard-disk problem ?
Please help.

Please check whether it is not shutting down for the fact that it is overheating or simply that the fan has stopped functioning.

the problem is due to the fan.
every time your laptop shuts down, it's because the CPU is over heated and needs air to cool it down.

Did you drop your laptop? this is the problem
dropping the laptop will cause fan to malfunction or bend the pin of the adapter plug in.

press the back of laptop hard or try banging it mild softly, turn on and see if air blows out.
