XP Black screen/Safe mode black screen

Hello,

Using a Dell Inspiron 6400. Recently it'd been slowing down alot so I started an AVG scan. Immediately AVG brought up a file which I removed, then the screen flashed up "fatal error 000009" (or something like that) and now I cant get to the log in screen. It simply goes to the black screen with cursor. Also, no Safe Modes work - all just showing a black screen with Safe Mode in each corner. Ctrl Alt Del doesnt work either - and I have no Windows CD. Ho ho.

So any ideas what I could do???
