Hello,
I saw someone else post this, but didn't see a response. I have Windows Vista on a Dell 1521. I did a system restore by accident and lost all my files (including all the files for a non-profit I work for), along with thousands of pictures, and all my grad school work.
I cannot follow the steps above because Vista doesn't have a "Documents and Settings" folder. Please help!
Thanks!

I suggest a professional file recovery program from one of these vendors:
http://www.file-recovery.net/order.htm this is the cheapest for the personal edition
http://www.recovermyfiles.com/data-recovery-software-purchase.php
http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm
Check them out - and buy one that has the features you need. Be advised that downloading any program may destroy the very files you are attempting to recover. The best solution is to move the hard drive to another computer and do the recovery from that operating system.
Good Luck
