Hi Nick,
MBAM, will not alone remove Security Tool.
Security Tool is a rogue virus which is self-protective and foxy, it will prevent the running of any antimalware application and in the long run cause more damage to your system.
The virus is presently running processes on your machine which must in priority be ended. To do this, you must outwit the virus.
Here is how:
Download Process Explorer and save it in C:\ folder.
Download link: http://live.sysinternals.com/procexp.exe
2. Rename procexp.exe to explorer.exe and double-click to run it. (To rename, click right on the icon and left on rename. Just type the new name)
3. Select Security Tool process from the list. Should be 4946550101.exe or similar and press "Delete" button to end the process.
4. Close Process Explorer.
5. In case it got corrupted, please delete the Malwarebyte application you have.
6. Re download MalwareBytes anti-malware:
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/
7. Rename mbam-setup.exe to explorer.exe and double-click to run it. Install, update and run MalwareBytes anti-malware. Then perform full computer scan and remove all found infections.
Please tell us if you succeeded for we like happy endings.
P.S. A few days ago, a member on this forum suggested a tool, which looks legitimate, to remove Security Tool, however, I don't know of anyone who tested its efficiency or effects. Up to you to try it, but I would certainly appreciate your feedback. Here is the link:
