Itunes will not install.

Hello,
i have just got an iPod touch and when i try to install itunes+qucktime off the apple website it wont work. it gets to the very end of the installation then says;
an error occurred during the installation of assembly.. then loads of letters and random things and then at the end it says please refer to windows help and support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD
.... i really need help?!

To be honest dude, if you have that error pop up you're missing some important updates & have to download them. If the updates don't install you're left with 2 doomsday options. A: Re-install Windows Vista & B: Buy Windows 7. That's what Apple told me anyway, they said this HRESULT problem is MUCH bigger than they thought.
