Cracked memory card

Hello,
My 2 GB SD memory card can not be read on my PC. I was looking at the card and there is a small crack on the case. Could this be a reason why it cannot be read? If so, is there any way I can get the files off the card?

Dear Sam,

If the card is cracked, this will clearly explain why you are having such trouble. No matter what, you will not have the possibility to fix it up for it work properly.
