Edit: I fiddled around with it and now each time I press the power button, the computer begins to start briefly twice. The fans start up but everything dies immediately thereafter.

hello
Good day..
please do try try to detached the power supply of your hard disk and its cable , and re connect it after 30 secs.. if nothing happens pls try the same pattern to your main board supply. and lastly if that wont resolve your problem, kindly replace your power supply and try it all over again, please advise me once done.. thanks

Well, I've tried what you suggested and so far no luck. Hopefully it is just the power supply (which i just bought, new). Ill take it by Best Buy in the morning to see what they think... the PSU is from a reputable company, but that doesn't seem to mean too much. Thanks for your input.

They tested the PSU, and it was still working fine, so we narrowed it down to the motherboard being shot. I planned to upgrade the motherboard/CPU/Memory at some point anyway, but now its going to happen a bit sooner rather than later. Thanks again for the help.
