Did windows update & now sound doesn't work

I have a toshiba laptop and I did windows update and now my sound isn't working even tho it shows volume up to 100%, I have tried doing a restore system but it will not go back far enough. Thanks for any help. Vicky

Hi there,

Open run by pressing start+r,then type msconfig,press ok/enter.Now on the general tab select start up normally press on apply and ok ,key machine restart to have settings applied.
