Please would someone give me some advice?!!!!

Hello,

I don't know if my problem is unique or not but I need some help with this because I am having a hard time finding answers.

It has been a month since I had this problem. I've lost all my documents, files, music, media and images after a dodgy windows update failure. My computer wouldn't reboot.

So in panic I ran PC Recovery.

It restored my computer to the date I purchased it in 2005.

All my old data is not deleted, btw. It's on a partition drive. It would cost me $90 (£110) to retrieve the data. Are there any free software programmes I could use to retrieve this data? I've heard I can retrive it through MS-DOS, but I don't wanna mess with it.
