Hello,
I'm a university student staying on campus the university provides free wireless internet, however, the block where i'm stayin has a history of problems with recieving a good signal. i usually get 2/5 bars signal, then for days it just disappears. When i take a few steps outside, the signal is fine and works great. I was wondering if buying a router and placing it either oustide my window, or on the 2nd floor would help solve my problem of recieving a signal? and if not, what should i do to fix this problem.
thank you in advance!

No a router will not work as a relay for the signal.
You could get a USB wireless adapter that allows an external antenna to be plugged in. go to this site for more info
