installing vlc on fedora 8Closed

Question

i tried running vlc using this command

rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm

as root. Then I get the following msg
Retrieving http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
error: skipping http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error

Can someone pls guide me on how do i continue installing
