Itunes 8.1 giving problem

Hello,

I've tried installing, itunes 8.1 but each time i try to run it, it gives an error that required component not installed reinstall or repair quick time... and i've installed and reinstalled itunes and quick time again and again from quick time ver. 7.5 to 7.6.5 and 7.6.6, but it still shows same error

Hello,

i recently downloaded itunes 9.2 which is the most recent version of itunes, and now When i plug my ipod touch in it says this ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install itunes again. i tried re-installing it many times but it still wont work, but it still makes the sound when i plug it in and it still chargers and everything and when i go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager i cant find my ipod its only under imaging devices P.S. my computer is windows XP & my ipod is generation 2 but updated to version 3.1.3
