Ipod not recognised by itunes

Hello,

I tried to synch my ipod with a friends latop recently, the laptop shut down and in the process has caused my ipod to recognise my 26gs of music as "other" data. I've had the laptop shut down like this before with no damage so I dont know what went wrong

When I connect to itunes its says that my ipod cannot be read and it prompts me to restore. The problem is that I dont have this music backed up anywhere so I want to try to fix it.

What I can do is manually access and upload music from my ipod to a pc by going into hidden music folders attributed to my ipod when connected via usb. This would probably take over 20 hours to do, 20 hours that I dont have seeing as I'm using net cafes on the road.

Its there any easily soloution to this? I've tried uninstalling the ipod drive in hardware devices and it doesnt work, also reseting.
