Ipod touch isnt working for itunes 9.2

Hello,

i recently downloaded itunes 9.2 which is the most recent version of itunes, and now When i plug my ipod touch in it says this ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install itunes again. i tried re-installing it many times but it still wont work, but it still makes the sound when i plug it in and it still chargers and everything and when i go to control panel>system>hardware>device manager i cant find my ipod its only under imaging devices P.S. my computer is windows XP & my ipod is generation 2 but updated to version 3.1.3

HELP!
