Ubuntu & windows vista

hello,
had windows vista and ubuntu on my laptop while trying to do some adjusting to ubuntu I lost vista and all my free space went to ubuntu. tried everthing I know to reinstall vista does't need help. novice with computers keep instruction in plan english but give them step by step thank you if you can help.
