Help with my WIFI im so dumb!!!!

i am using a verizon westell a90-750015-07 (i have heard of people saying they could use there verizon box with time warner is this true? ????) modem/router with my time warner cable modem my wifi finds the box and i have to enter the password it connects automatically with an excellent connection. but i cannot access any pages. i have already check if its receiving DNS and IP automatically and they are. also i think the LAN setting are fine but im not 100% sure. HERE IS THE WEIRD PART! i had one ethernet cord from my modem to my verizon box now its disconnected from my verizon box and plugged directly into my computer, which is how im getting internet now but it still says that the wifi with that connection is connected! what the ^$&*!!!???
