Computer messes up when playing a game

Hello,
On my windows desktop, whenever i go to play a game the screen goes black and says that theres no input but the computer is still on and the everything is still powered. This also just happened when i was just on the desktop, anyone have an idea of what could be happening? btw i tried cleaning up the power supply and the fans already.
