What's a PUK code?

Hi I do not know what i did to my phone but the deal is i am locked out it says that my PUK code is incorrect..what's a PUK code???

Dear Sir,

This is a specific code that you obtain together with the SIM card but you can also have it from your network provider if ever you have lost it.
