Network adapter

Hello,
I recently installed a new router on my laptop and I can't get online, if I conect the computer to the router works but the wireless seems to have the problem, I was told that is the network adapter, any idea in how to fix this? I know it not the router since we have another computer and is working fine, thanks
My laptop is a Compaq presario cq50 with windows vista

Have you checked that the wireless adapter is switched on

Have you checked in devise manager that your wireless adapter is recognised and you have the right drivers.

Have you entered the network key
