Can't get picture and sound on one channel.

Hi,
I have an HP netbook that I am trying to hook up to my Vizio tv. I purchased a two sided VGA cable and a cable that has RCA (red and white) that plugs into my headphone jack on my netbook. The sound is playing on the "Component" channel. And the video is coming out of the "RGB" channel.
Please help
