My speakers won't work

Hello,

Back in January 2010 I bought a Fujitsu with Vista Home. When I have added speakers, no sound comes out. I did try headphones in headphones socket on the front and after awhile I did get sound. It was not a clear sound. I have now bought external speakers which are powered by USB and still nothing. Is there a problem with Vista system, I have noticed on other web links that lots of other people are having similar trouble.
I have tried the different ways to get sound following ideas from this forum. No luck.Does anyone have an answer?

No sound/music comes out of the speakers. I have tried different inputs on the back including green into green! of the computer and still no music. Do you think there is a problem with Vista system? Lots of people sem to have the same trouble.
