I cant open any downloaded files with vista

Hello,

I am really struggling here to open any files on my laptop which uses vista. I suspect there could be a security setting that im missing.
I tried downloading my new Mcafee which downloads then disappears....
i have tried using the IE right mouse click and run as administrator but it freezes out.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Dear MJMurphy,

The actual problem should be sourcing from your anti virus application which is restricting the task to be completed. You should actually be using AVG anti virus application and hence I will advise you to have it disabled and then to continue with the download.

thanks for taking the time to reply.. I am at present unable to disable the AVG. Any tips on how i can do that and then also how i can remove the AVG as i want rid of it.. When i try and get shot of it, i get the following error and cannot get shot of AVG8. Any advise and help appreciated
