Here is the answer to your question for real this time.
To add RAM, you must purchase RAM sticks and physically install them in the appropriate slots on the motherboard.
You must purchase the proper stick depending on your machine: DDR, DDR 2 or DDR 3. Your machine may have 2 or 3 slots, the most powerful stick is inserted into the first slot.
You can usually find stick of 256 mb, 500 mb and 1 Gb.
Max ram will speed up your computer.

This may be due to lack of memory or the drivers are not installed and outdated,check in device manager and add more ram ,the frequency needs to be same get cpuz a free application to provide you with memory information :

Since your friend said that it is RAM issue I presume that he already has excluded possibility of any virus/worm/trojan on you machine and that temp directory is clear. So I guess answer would be to add more RAM, but dont add more than is supported by your pc as it can slow it down even more.
