Using computer through tv via VGA to RCA cabl Closed

Hello, 

I have recently purchased a VGA to RCA/ S-Video cable to run my computer on my tv. When I connected either or, the screen was black and white, flashing, and there was more than one of the computer desktop screen. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 8.0
