Ethernet problem urgent

Hello,
I have just got a new Linksys router thur setup everything was going find until the last step then a pop up came up saying make sure Ethernet cable is hook up in back of your computer and router, I have check this over and over and i still cant see what the problem is could there be something wrong with my Ethernet slot on back of my computer. Please help
