why does my monitor go blackClosed

Hello, 
hi,my monitor keeps going black whenever i start up  a program that has to go black for one secound and then goes to the program. For example when i go to start up a game "garrys-mod" it has to go black for a sec then shows the valve ads,but my monitor goes black and stays that way. the light is blue and flashes on and off. the only way i can get it to work again is if i unplug my monitor for 3-5 mins and plug it back into the wall unit.

so my question is how do i fix this?


Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 8.0

Please consider checking whether the problem is coming from your graphic card or still whether you need to have its driver updated to get free of the specific trouble.
