Ares starts scan every time iI use it

Hello,
The scanning impairs functions and slows down the computer. It all of a sudden started scanning and I cannot shut it off. It takes about 2 hours to scan and get to normal use. Please help. thanks

It is the same ares program I have used for years. I have not updated to the newer version and I might try that.
