Netgear wifi problem

My problem is similar. My laptop suddenly does not recognize my Netgear wifi, although it picks up a couple of wifi signals around my house. I have unplugged/replugged both the modem and the router and everything seemed to reset. My desktop accesses the internet ok, but apparently no signal to the lapper. Anyone have a suggestion??

whats the age of the router. I have had a few wireless routers fail after 2 or 3 years of use. can you test for a wireless signal with another device?
