excel drop down button to stay Closed

I have a project and I am using drop down buttons (by using validation).  How can I get the arrow to stay there even if the cell is not selected.  Thanks


Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.12

Can only think of using a Form-Control Combo Box to do this, though the validation will have to be done yourself.
