Dell desktop locked

Hello,


I forgot the password to get into my desktop, and I ended up pressing the f-12 or f-4 button don't remember which one, however something I pressed or something, (honestly don't remember doing anything) totally locked the computer, now when it gets turned on the whole computer system is locked, keeps coming up a black screen, there is a main password that has to be used to unlock the computer can anyone help
