If you are resetting your iPhone, because if it is frozen.... hold the power button and the home button for at least 5 seconds. Forget everything it says on the iPhone screen. Once the screen turns black, release the home button... BUT KEEP holding the power button. It will turn on with Apple logo and the freezing should go away...
If you are resetting your iPhone to factory settings, because it is severely damaged... connect your iPhone to iTunes. It will say if you want to restore to factory settings, click and follow on-screen instructions...
Hope this helps...
