Well, thanks, Captain Obvious, but no matter how many new ports I purchase, they still wouldn't be recognized until the problem is fixed.
Fortunately, I was able to open in safe mode with working USB ports. I was then able to restore settings and everything is rosy now.

Hello Weeze,
I have had the same issue, If you go to your local computer store, preferably in a large chain, for very cheap ($5 USD), you can purchase a USB, ps2 adapter, it's green and all will just just fine. I don't need mine anymore, but I can't send it to you.
You better hurry because they are getting rare.
