Hello,

I have basic Microsoft excel skills and am making a spreadsheet for personal use. I have a list that has monetary values in it. Next to each value is a category name that is typed in the cell adjacent to it. So A1 might say $25 and B1 says "X". Then A2 might say $8 and B2 says "Y." I want to see everything in a list so I can see the totals at the bottom, but I'd also like to be able to total all the "X" values and all the "Y" values and so on. So I think I'm trying to write a formula that says, in basic English, "If it says "X" in this cell, then take the value of the cell next to it and copy it into another cell (like H1), but if it says "Y" in this cell, then take the value of the cell next to it and copy it into a different cell (like K1)." Well, and then it's not quite as easy as that, either. I actually have three numeric values (A1, B1, C1) that are identified by each category name and I really want to copy all three of them to a second location. Does this make any sense? Thanks!

could you please upload a sample files WITH sample data, macro, formula , conditional formatting etc on some shared site like https://authentification.site , http://docs.google.com, http://wikisend.com/ etc
AND post back here the link to allow better understanding of how it is now and how you foresee. Based on the sample book, could you re-explain your problem too.

Note:
your data need not be to be real data but a good representative of how data looks like
