Problem with ide drive not detected

Hello,



i aquired an ide 40g hard drive from a friend. I put it on my pc and boot my pc so i can format it. The first time it is detected so i started to install windows but when i reboot, the drive is undetected. so i brushed the disk thinking it might just be dirt. then i restart it again and it was detected. i reboot it to check and the same problem appears, my ide drive is not detected again. Please help... Thanks

Hello,
Try this 1
Change the power connector or the data cable and check if it's getting detected or not.
