Restoring your factory settings will loose any data you have saved files you created music/pics/things like that. You will also loose any updates to the software and OS, you would have to go back to microsoft and get any security updates for Vista and IE, .net frame work things like that. The down side if your factory settings files are corrupted it could crash your system and you would need to do a full reinstall of windows.

hi im looking to restore my compaq laptop its telling me that the manger boot is gone how do i get it back or is my hard drive gone

thanks for your reply i have recovery disk also and i saved my all files after that i have to reinstall the full window again.
