go to run and type
cmd and click ok
Now run this command
chkdsk /f /r
If it asks to run a scan after system restarts..Press Y and enter
Now restart the PC and let PC finish the chkdsk
Try to open the C drive.If you still face issues
Go to run and type
eventvwr
Go to windows logs?applications
On the right side click on '' Filter current log''
A window pops up,now in the '' event source '' box select wininit option(for vista and 7)
you should a get a information report >double click on it and see for ''BAD SECTORS''
If its 0 kB then HDD is fine
