HELP!! Cannot open or install anything

Hello,
I was infected with that WIN 7 Anti-virus trojan worm. I re-installed my Norton (guess I waited one day too long) and got rid of it, but now every time I try to open a program, or install a program, I keep getting a window that says "select the program you want to use to open this file". I am stumped. I tried installing the software you recommended but it stops me at this prompt. What program should I select when it asks me this? Or is there another way I can clean this up? Please help! This has affected all of my programs. It's really frustrating.

Launch it,click YES when you get the UAC prompt

You should be able to launch applications now

Boot the PC into safemode with networking and run a full scan

Remove infections,you may still be infected ,let me know after this

There is a trick to make your programs run temporarily

Right click on applications,select -Run as administrator


This a permanent fix

Now you should be able to launch applications again
