Ipod in recovery mode....?

Hello,
im fixing a ipod for a friend and i am stumped, the ipod is stuck in recovery mode (not DFU mode) and windows and itunes cant recognise it what do i do, its an 8 gb and 1st generation so if any one could help i would be really greatfull

Hello,
*Try to perform a Hard reset using the Power and the home button (press and hold for 15 seconds).
*You can also try to restore your device from iTunes.

If the above solution won't work, please give us the firmware version and the type of iPod you are using.
