how did you enter the data in excel (as EXCEL DAT according to regional convention) or did you just enter it just as a number
suppose you have entered as EXCEL DATE
you format-cells-custom
type
mm/dd/yy and hit ok
if you have typed it as number e.g. 20120808 thsen
in another cell type
=(MID(E73,5,2)&"/"&RIGHT(E73,2)&"/"&LEFT(E73,2))*1
E73 is the cell where the date is .l you modify the formula
(this is according to my regional date entry convention that is m/d/yy
ALWAYS ENTER DATE AS EXCEL DATE ACCORDING TO YOUR REGIONAL CONVENTION. THEN IT IS EASY TO MANIPULATE.
