Hey guys,
So I turned on my laptop the other day and 'startup repair' came up saying that 'Your computer was unable to start.' After a couple of restarts it finally turns on, but I can't open anything! And I mean nothing, from word documents, to control panel, or even the internet! It comes up with a error message.
My laptop is an acer aspire, runs on windows Vista.

Any help will be much appreciated, I have all my course work on it, and I can't access it!

Thanks

Syd,

You are most welcome! Now please pay to the next! Create a chain, help someone else with anything, like help an old lady to cross the street, give blood or ...a kidney!

It would be very nice of you to tell everyone what the error message is.

Gee Syd, It sounds to me that your hardrive has failed. You may try to restore the machine to factory settings.

You have not mention your lappy's make and model. Most have a recovery partition. Unfortunately, after such recovery all data is lost but it's better than a morbid lappy.

In the Kioskea faq bank, they are restore to factory settings tips for most laptop makes.

But if you are asked again, your bios may be corrupted and Windows must be installed.

Good luck

My laptop is a Acer Aspire 7730ZG,
I really appreciate all your advice so far, but if you don't mind can you talk me through what I should be looking for please?
I'm not that good at stuff like this.

Cheers

Hi,

The first two following faq should work for your lappy:

You can also try:

You can access to this partition by pressing the "F10" during the boot but it will delete all your data and recover your laptop to it factory settings.
