Hello,
i have a dell inspiron n5030 which has trouble connecting any wireless network unless it is within five feet of the router other computers in the house have no problem picking up a signal so i know its not the router. i have updated the wireless drivers still no good even with the computer set right next to the router it only shows two bars on signal strength can any one help please.

Hi upheld24,

Try these steps and check if the problem still exists:

1. Change the Advanced card properties. Please check this link to find details about Advanced card properties: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/network/wlan/en/UG_EN/props.htm#toc_70
2. Change the wireless channels in the Advanced card properties to 11 or 6.
3. Disable Bluetooth Collaboration also in Advanced card properties.
4. Update BIOS from (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-15-n5030 using wired connection.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.
