\boot\BCD error

I own a lenovo G770 that won't boot up. When I try to start it, I get a black screen that states:

File: \boot\BCD;
Status: 0xc000000f;
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I believe I may have to do a systems recovery. No recovery discs were sent with computer. But these are not necessary because all lenovo laptops are equipped with a care button that when used, can restore the computer's original factory settings. However, before I do this I would like to back up all the programs in my hard drive into an external hard drive. Is this possible? If so, how can I do this? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
