My HP laptop's screen is black and whit with lines??

Hey guys I got this laptop almost nine years ago and its an HP and the screen is screwed up. When I turn it on the screen automatically goes black and with with black-and-white lines? Before the screen stayed like that forever it used to happen every 30 mins and my laptop would freeze for about 2min and then one day I turn it on and it doesn't go away need help ;( Thanks anyways!!

Time to buy a new laptop. You have a problem either with the screen itself or the video chip on the motherboard. It costs less to buy a new laptop than to repair the old one.
